Friday FlashThere is an unsung rule for Minnesotans in July. Never make plans.
July comes at us quick and all a lot of us want to do it slow it down and enjoy the
weather.
For this reason we’re going to take a break on planning an event this month.
We also want pent up demand on our August event, which is looking to be a bigger
event than usual. If you’re looking for a last minute summer trip before the school year starts here are 3
fun weekend destinations:

  1. Walker, MN (3 hours from the cities). Eat and drink at some of the
finest establishments in MN. Check out “Benson’s Eating and Drinking
Emporium” for lunch. Then take a ride on a paddle board to see the
glorious blue waters for Walker Bay. You can rent boards at “Walker
Surf Company”. Finally stay at one of the many resorts around the lake.
“The Chase” and “Trappers Landing” are two of my favorites.
  2. Cuyuna, MN (2 hours) is well known as Mountain bikers paradise with their magnificent red clay trails, but it also offers fantastic adventures for hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, and more. Meet up at the Red Raven for a coffee to get the day started and end the trip at Cuyuna Brewery for post biking beers. It’s a never ending adventure at Cuyuna!Taylor Falls, MN (1 hour) Looking for a quick day trip from the cities?
  3. You should check out Taylor Falls and the St. Croix Valley. There are beautiful waterfall hikes, great views of the St Croix River, and a ton of activities for the kids. Book a ride on the Taylor Falls Princess wheel boat, jump in and go swimming in the river, or dance the night away at the Wannigan Days weekend on July 14th.

If you’re looking to cool down in town check out one of the “12 water parks” in the city.
Some of our favorites are the outdoor parks at “Edina Aquatic Center”, “Cascade Bay in Eagan”, and “Como Regional Park Pool”
What ever your plans are we hope you are enjoying the summer!
